LAW PRACTICE
Rob Granatstein has practised business law in the Toronto office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP since 1987. His practice focuses on general corporate matters, venture capital and merchant banking transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions of businesses and on the preparation and negotiation of a broad variety of commercial contracts. Mr. Granatstein acts for many non-Canadian companies with business interests in Canada, and in the past few years, he has been very involved in the health and technology sectors, representing a number of the firm’s clients. He has also practiced in the financial services area.
In recent years, Mr. Granatstein has also been very involved in the Firm’s procurement practice, representing public authorities and the private sector in all facets of procurement, including preparing and responding to requests for proposals, developing selection criteria, advising on the selection of successful respondents and preparing and negotiating contract documentation.
Mr. Granatstein has published articles and given numerous talks on topics in the areas of financial services, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions, and procurement. For the past two years, he has been the course leader of a mergers and acquisitions course offered in Toronto.
Mr. Granatstein is currently the Managing Partner of Blakes, and in prior years he served on various committees of the Firm. He was the Deputy Managing Partner of Blakes from 1999 to 2001.
