LAW PRACTICE
A.J. Chivetta is Practice Group Leader of the firm’s International Practice Group.  He represents clients in areas related to international trade and investment such as import and export transactions, direct foreign investments and international mergers and acquisitions.  Mr. Chivetta has represented clients in acquisition and disposition transactions in many European and Asian countries.  Mr. Chivetta has extensive experience in assisting clients in integrating or restructuring foreign operations following an acquisition.

As a participant in our China practice, Mr. Chivetta has represented clients in securing Chinese sourcing, acquiring Chinese companies, structuring and negotiating joint ventures and in other forms of direct foreign investment in China.  Mr. Chivetta also assists clients with protection of intellectual property rights in China and in anti-counterfeiting initiatives.

Mr. Chivetta has provided representation in the areas of international design and construction contracts, real estate acquisitions and leasing.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chivetta practiced architecture with the firms of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum and Hastings and Chivetta Architects.

• Represented U.S.-based joint venture partner in initial public offering of joint venture securities on Shanghai Stock Exchange
• Represented German manufacturer of industrial electronic weighing equipment in the sale of its worldwide operations (15 countries) to a German based strategic buyer
• Represented French-based thermocoupler manufacture in its sale to a United Kingdom-based private equity fund
• Represented largest U.S. manufacturer of generic veterinary pharmaceuticals in its sale to a U.S.-based private equity fund
• Represented U.S.-based client in several acquisitions of United Kingdom advertising agencies
